DTC Workshops

The Destination Theatre Company Traveling Troupe, in addition to performances, will also conduct workshops for your church or theatre company.  We currently offer three different types of workshops: Performance, Technical Theatre and Playwriting.  The workshops can be done on consecutive days or you may choose one of them separately.  If 2 or more workshops are desired, the combined price will be 80% of the total of the prices listed below for the workshops.  If combined with a paid- or love-offering performance (for instance, a Saturday workshop with a Sunday performance), 50% of the prices listed below must be added to the love offering taken or set prices for the performances.

Drama/Acting Workshop--6-8 hours--This workshop, usually scheduled for a Saturday with lunch provided by the church or for two consecutive weeknights, includes work on acting basics, physical movement, vocalization, memorization, characterization, teamwork, building and maintaining a drama team, and theatre terminology.  For the workshop it is required that a large open space be available.  Some churches will charge a nominal fee for the participants to help offset the cost of the workshop.  Churches will also sometimes invite other churches' drama teams to participate.  Price of the workshop with no accompanying performance:  $500.

Technical Theatre Workshop--3-4 hours--This workshop includes terminology and techniques of working with set design and construction, lighting, sound, costuming and makeup for the stage.  A large space with tables for the participants is required for this workshop.  DTC will bring in some equipment in order to display and allow the participants to work with the equipment for the different technical areas.  As with the Drama Workshop, some churches will charge a nominal fee for the participants to help offset the cost of the workshop and some churches will invite other churches' drama teams to participate.  This workshop could be scheduled on a Friday with a Drama Workshop scheduled on a Saturday and a performance on Sunday with a love offering.  Price of the workshop with no accompanying performance:  $300.

"Destination: Playwriting" Workshop--4-6 hours--This workshop is designed to take the students through the entire process of writing a play from concept to finished product.  Each participant in the workshop will receive a copy  of the "Destination: Playwriting" Unit Guide (details about the unit here).  The theatre typically charges participants $7 for the workshop.   See full details about the workshop here.  Price of the workshop with no accompanying performance:  $300.
