Chorus

A conductor and those under him/her, including the chorus, are usually only used in a musical productions.

The Chorus Members of a performance have the following responsibilities.

1) They make up the non-speaking singers in a production.  In many musicals, these are simply known as "Townspeople."  Sometimes they are broken down into mothers, fathers, parents, daughters, sons, or children for specific songs in the production.  These are those individuals that make up the background of the rest of the production.  Usually, most of these characters are un-named although some of them may have occupational names such as policeman, rabbi, etc.

2)  They must learn all of the chorus numbers and the accompanying choreography.

3) They are hired by either the director or vocal director and report directly to the vocal director.

4)  They are usually paid hourly for the time that they actually work.
