Cast

The Cast Members of a performance have the following responsibilities.

1) Memorization and performance of all of their character's lines, cues, entrances, exits and movements.

2) They are hired by either the director or producer.  Usually the leads are contracted by the producer and other smaller parts are cast by the director.  They report directly to the director.

3)  Depending on the actor or actress' fame and production history, they may be paid by means of a contract (usually including a percentage of the gross proceeds), salary or hourly (usually reserved for small walk-on parts).

These are the actors in the production.  Usually this makes up the largest single group of participants and is the only group seen by the audience.
