People Connection

Each month, we select one or two people who have been involved in the cast and/or crew of our productions and have them tell you about their experiences.  This month, we have selected Dale Ward and Haley Gregory.  Dale first appeared in the 2008 One-Act Competition and is playing Ebenezer Scrooge in this summer's A Christmas Carol.  Haley originally appeared in last fall's Winnie the Pooh and has also appeared in Tilly prior to her involvement as the Spirit of Christmas Past and other roles in this summer's A Christmas Carol.

Dale Ward

Dale Ward as Ebenezer Scrooge is appearing in his second DTC production, having been in the second annual One-Act Play Competition earlier this year.  He has also appeared on the big screen in the films Meet Bill, Alice Upside Down, and The Lucky Ones, as  well as the national television programs Completing Kaden and On Main Street.  He also produces and directs short films, videos for his church, and his day job is at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, where he is responsible for all the video content on their website and iTunesU.  His work has won numerous awards, including 3 regional Emmys, and most recently a Telly award for "Servants for Jesus' Sake,"  and an Aurora Award for The Two Sons and Their Crogzookles.  He has been happily married to his beautiful wife Suzanne for 23 years, and has two fantastic sons: Abraham (10) and Elijah (4).  He loves life and hopes that he keeps Christmas well - all year long.

A Christmas Carol is my second show with Destination Theater – which means I came back for more!  My son Abraham connected me to the theatre group – this will be his third play.  After his first play, and me being one of the parents that sit on the sidelines, I decided to get more involved and auditioned for a role.  What do you know – one part lead to another – and it is a great experience to share the stage with my son.

I’ve always enjoyed acting and the stage.  I performed in school plays and worked several years at the Barn Dinner Theater in Grover.  I have also always enjoyed attending shows and have seen many performances around town and elsewhere.  When Abraham got the “theater bug,” I was happy to share this interest with him, but with it came some trepidation knowing that many projects are for a more mature audience.  That’s what makes Destination Theater so great.  All the plays are family-friendly, so not only is it a wonderful outlet for Abraham’s passion for acting, but it’s also great that grandma and grandpa can attend, as well as little brother, cousins, and schoolmates, and see top-notch theater productions. On top of that, I have never seen Christian themes handled so creatively and artistically, and never the heavy-handedness that is prevalent in some productions.

It’s great to be able to work with my son for a worthwhile Theater Group that is making a difference – all in the name of excellence!

Haley Gregory

Haley Gregory as the Spirit of Christmas Past and Sarah is in the 4th grade at Truman Elementary School.  She has one brother and one sister.  She was proud be a part of the Winnie the Pooh cast, her first stage experience, earlier this season as well as a child in the cast of Tilly.  Haley enjoys doing gymnastics and she also loves to draw.

My name is Haley Gregory.  I am 10 years old.  This is my third production with Destination Theatre Company.  Seeing DTC's production of Charlotte's Web inspired me to try acting.  It looked like so much fun to be on stage!  Through DTC, I have learned how much time and work it takes to be an actress, and put a show together.  I have enjoyed performing, as well as learning how to paint and put the sets together.  I've also learned how to work together with a whole group of people.  It's great getting to know so many new friends with each production.  All of the people in the cast are really nice!  Someday, I would like to write my own play.
