Sound Engineer

The sound engineer of a performance has the following responsibilities.

1) The sound engineer designs all of the sound effects, sound reinforcement and house music for the production.

2) They are hired by either the director or producer and report directly to the director, assistant director or stage manager.

3)  They are usually paid based on a contract.

4)  They must know a great deal about how microphones work, how to create or find pre-recorded and live sound effects and must work closely with the director to help re-create the director's vision of the production through sound and reinforcement.
