Lighting Designer

The lighting designer of a performance has the following responsibilities.

1) The lighting designer designs all of the lighting effects for the production.

2) They are hired by either the director or producer and report directly to the director, assistant director or stage manager.

3)  They are usually paid based on a contract.

4)  They must know a great deal about how lighting works, how to create lighting effects and must work closely with the director and set designer to help re-create the director's vision of the production through light and color.
