Musicians

A conductor and those under him/her, including the musicians, are usually only used in a musical production.

The musicians of a performance have the following responsibilities.

1) They learn and perform all of the instrumental music in the production

2) They are hired by either the director or conductor and report directly to the conductor.

3)  These individuals will form what is known as the pit orchestra for the show.

4)  They are usually paid hourly.

Many times, even amateur and school theatres will pay musicians if they have to hire from outside the organization.
