Our History
Destination Theatre Company doesn't yet have a history that goes back
several decades...but we're working on it. The idea for the theatre
began back in 1994 in the heart of founder and then college freshman Allen
Moore. More than 10 years later, that idea came to fruition in our inaugural
production of The Diary of Anne Frank by Francis Goodrich and
Albert Hackett. That show was performed six times in the lower
chapel of West County Assembly of God (WCAG) in Chesterfield MO on May
12-21, 2005.
Then, our second show, If the Good Lord's Willing
and the Creek Don't Rise by Pat Cook, was performed four times in the
sanctuary at WCAG July 13-16, 2006.
Next, back in the lower chapel, we had our first ever One-Act
Competiton and Dessert Auction on March 23rd, 2007. We performed
four one-acts, each directed by a director who had never directed before.
Our plans are to continue the competition and dessert auction in the
coming years in conjunction with our new
play contest.
Our next show, was Charlotte's Web-The
Musical by Joseph Robinette and Charles Strouse. Charlotte's Web
was performed July 6, 7, 12, 13, and
14 at West County Assembly of God in
Chesterfield. This dinner theatre production was performed in the
gymnasium. This production was by far our most successful thus
far. We averaged 100 per performance for the five performances
selling out completely for two of the five performances.
This year, we have our most ambitious season yet, we've expanded to
four shows including three mainstage shows and our annual One Act
Competition and Dessert Auction. Our shows for this year include our
first children's show, Winnie the Pooh, a moving story of healing
and restoration in Tilly and our second dinner theatre musical with
A Christmas Carol. Find out about this year's shows here.
