If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise

Here's the low down on our all-star cast for this great production.  All bios represent the most recent production experience with DTC for each cast member.

Joel Brewer as Leo Jenkins in the 2006 production of If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise--Joel is a home-schooled sophomore in high school and this will be his first performance with Destination Theater Company. Joel has played roles in several performances through Dayspring School of the Arts, including his most recent as a Prince in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Dayspring threw a twist on this play and set it in the groovy 60's, complete with a full rainbow tie-dye set. Other roles Joel has played include an English butler in the musical/comedy And Then There Was One and a Jewish father during the Holocaust in I Never Saw Another Butterfly.

Grace Brookman as Mandy Pemberton in the 2006 production of If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise--Grace is a home educated high school junior. For the past several years, she has enjoyed being involved in a local theater group. Among other things Grace likes spending my time reading, singing, sewing, sketching, and making candles. She also enjoy spending time with family and friends. Grace does ministry work in a nursing home, spending time with the residents and helping with the church services. In the future, she would possibly like to get a nursing degree and be a nurse/missionary. Grace would like to thank Jesus Christ for his abounding love and faithfulness.

Janet Brookman as Charlotte Dinsel in the 2006 production of If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise--Janet is thrilled to be joining Destination Theater Company this season. For eight years, Janet has been involved in the local theater group Broadway on the Driveway in their annual musicals, including- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, and The Education of Hyman Kaplan. She enjoys acting, singing, and dancing. Other hobbies include: writing fiction and poetry, cooking, hanging out with her parents and five sisters, and being involved in the Christian band "Remnant". She'd like to personally thank her Savior, Jesus Christ, for being so incredible and her family for always supporting her.

Virginia Conley as Elizabeth Claybourne in the 2006 production of If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise--Virginia is a wife, mother, writer, and former acrobat. She would like to give a shout out to her husband and thank him for his support in her theatrical pursuits. By day Virginia is an executive assistant for a local healthcare organization. By night, she studies screen writing and is currently working on several screen plays and short stories.  Her Thespian background includes The Girls’ Room (short film featured in the 2002 St. Louis Film Festival); stage plays From Generation to Generation and The Odd Couple (female version). When not working and studying, Virginia likes to sing and spend time encouraging her son in his music production career. She is currently a member of "2nd Coming", an a cappella gospel quintet which, in addition to her, includes her biological brothers and sisters. Ultimately, however, acting is her greatest passion outside of her family and church. She loves it whether she gets paid or not! "Oh yes, I can still turn a mean cartwheel."

Tom Grady as Gerald Firestone in the 2006 production of If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise--Tom is one of five partners at Trinity Wealth Advisors in Kirkwood. Trinity is a family wealth management firm. It’s marketing statement “Cultivating family wealth for generations” says it all. He speaks on topics of generational wealth, family wealth in the year 2035 and beyond, and how to avoid Social Security’s upcoming generational warfare.

Tom has an MS and an MBA. Aside from public speaking, where he  brings to life such historical characters as Cornelius Vanderbilt, he has had no stage experience. What you are about to see is a first.

Tom likes to read and write and has yet to find the TV remote. He's also written two books and numerous articles for national magazines. In addition, he's a guest columnist for the St. Louis Post Dispatch Business Section.

Brad Lafferty in the 2009 Dinner Theatre Production of J.B.--Brad is from Saint Louis, Missouri, and now lives in Saint Charles with his wife and two children.  He works for General Motors where he is a Chaplain for UAW Local 2250.  He is also a member of Grace Baptist Church where he sings in the choir and speaks in the Nursing Home Ministry and is currently seeking a Master's degree in Church Ministry from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO.

Brad would love to tell you that he has had a lifelong passion for the theatre (because that would make for riveting reading), but, truth be told, prior to his DTC experience, he's been in three plays and, at best, a half-dozen youth group skits in his whole life.  In fact, if his daughter wasn't studying theatre, he probably wouldn't go to too many plays, either.  He's not here to be a part of the sales department.  What he is here for is this...anytime anyone is willing to commit themselves to engaging our culture in the name of Christ, he's behind them.  He says, for too long we Christians have sat idly by while others have taken the arts away from their original purpose...to praise and glorify God.  He believes this world needs, more than ever, people willing to step out, in faith, and proclaim the goodness and majesty of God to a lost and dying world, and that the theatre is a very good place to start.  Our God is a creator...let us also be creative as we worship Him.  His DTC production experience consists of playing Doc  in If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise, directing The Conference in the 2007 One-Act Competition, playing the doctor in Samuel and Dinah also in the 2007 One-Act Competition, playing the doctor in our production of Charlotte's Web and directorial and (non-speaking) acting roles in the 2009 One Act Competition where his play The Challenge won best original play.  Brad also worked backstage for our productions of Tilly and A Christmas Carol.

Jenna Lafferty in the 2009 One Act Competition--Jenna, who won Best Actress honors in the 2009 One Act Competition, is a 15-year-old sophomore in high school this year, and is taking some classes at Missouri Baptist University.  She has been studying Musical Theatre and dance for over 10 years.  She has been involved with DTC for over three-and-a-half years now.  Her first show with DTC was If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise.  She has also choreographed Charlotte's Web-The Musical and Tilly, in which she was also the featured dance, with DTC so far.  Her favorite roles have been Doreen in ...Good Lord's Willing... with DTC, Lucy in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown with Dayspring School of the Arts, Chave in Fiddler on the Roof and the Cuban dancer in Guys and Dolls with Alton Little Theatre to name a few.  Her dream is to grow up and act and dance on Broadway and teach performing arts classes.  She loves being with her friends, family and Mike, shopping and spending time on the computer.  She loes singing and is now in Encounter in Alton, Illinois.  She thanks God for her talents and for many opportunities to use them.

Allen Moore as the director for the 2009 Dinner Theatre production of J.B.--Allen is the founder and president of Destination Theatre Company.  J.B. represents his 10 production for DTC in which he has had directorial duties.  Allen is a graduate of  Evangel University (class of 1999) with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Drama Education and of Lindenwood University (class of 2007) with a Master’s degree in Theatre Management.  Other, non-DTC credits include Production Assistant for Missouri Baptist University’s production of Oklahoma!, Lighting Assistant for the Tin Ceiling’s production of Rosencrantz and Guidenstern are Dead, and Dramaturg for Broadway on the Driveway’s premier production of The Four Freedoms.  Allen has also directed or co-directed productions, in a teaching capacity, for Riverview Gardens Central Middle School (Mame, The Fantasticks, Why Do We Laugh, This is a Test, and Neil Simon’s Rumors), Francis Howell School District’s Saeger Middle School (Happy Daze) and St. Louis Public School’s Carr Lane Middle School (The Music Man Jr., Four Parodies on a Christmas Carol, and Neil Simon’s Fools).  Allen currently works as the Tech Liaison for Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School.  Allen is married to Kristy and has three kids; Isaac, Rebekah and Rachel.  Allen's DTC directorial credits include The Diary of Anne Frank, If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise, the 2007 One Act Competition, Charlotte's Web-The Musical, Tilly, the 2008 One Act Competition and A Christmas Carol.

Kristy Moore as Lesure, Costume Mistress and Kitchen Coordinator for the 2009 Dinner Theatre production of J.B.--Kristy is married to Allen and a home-schooling mother of three: Isaac, 10 1/2; Rebekah, 7 1/2; and Rachel, 5.  Growing up in Springfield IL, she was involved in several productions at school and church in elementary and high school, including The Music Man, where she was a gymnast and dancer.  Since college at Evangel University, she has been in a lot of productions at church including Bethlehem Inn, A Christmas Carol, Putting the Christ Back in Easter, The Sounds of Christmas, the premier production of What's Your Favorite Part... and the direction of Sure Foundations, The Joy Story, The Tale of Three Trees, Kid's Praise: An Explosion of Happiness and Kid's Praise 2: The Joyfulliest Noise.  Kristy's DTC experience includes the  inaugural production of The Diary of Anne Frank in the role of Mr. Otto Frank, If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise as Maxine McAllister directorial and acting roles in the 2007 and 2008 One-Act Competitions, Sadie in Charlotte's Web, director of Winnie the Pooh, and Kathy in Tilly.

David's other DTC credits include Steve Renfro in If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise, Best Director honors in the 2007 One Act Competition for his direction of Chew the Fat With Matt and he was also the pianist for last year's musical production of Charlotte's Web.

Dale Puls  as the Technical Director for the 2007 production of Tilly--Dale is a husband, father of 2 and grandfather of 3. He works for Cynergetics and also does some IT work for Missouri Baptist University where his wife, Janet, works. In his "spare time," he also is the technical director at West County Assembly...a volunteer position which has earned him the title "Almighty Dale."   In addition to Tilly, Dale also served as technical director for our production of If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise.
