If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise

Here's the low down on our all-star cast for this great production.  Again, these bios were written for the program for the production so any dates and ages should be adjusted accordingly.

Brad Lafferty as Joseph "Doc" Babcock--Greetings.  My name is Brad Lafferty, and I am (cough! cough!) years old. I have a beautiful wife, Stacey, and two wonderful children, Andrew and Jenna. I am a member of Grace Baptist Church in St. Charles, where I sing in the choir, do special music (some of it original,) and help out in the Nursing Home ministry. I am an autoworker, and serve as a Chaplain through the United Auto Workers union. When I grow up, I want to be older. It is my prayer that this production helps you to see that the Lord really does watch over fools and poets, and that it’s OK to be one, or both, every now and then.  Blessings.

Grace Brookman as Mandy Pemberton--I am a home educated high school junior.  For the past several years, I've enjoyed being involved in a local theater group. Among other things I like spending my time reading, singing, sewing, sketching, and making candles. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends.   I do ministry work in a nursing home, spending time with the residents and helping with the church services. In the future, I would possible like to get a nursing degree and be a nurse/missionary. I would like to thank Jesus Christ for his abounding love and faithfulness to me.

David Moreshead as Steve Renfro--I am a 15 year old rising high school senior. I attend Dayspring School of the Arts where I take classes in drama, musical theatre and piano. I work during the summer with our family company, GoodHeart Lawn and Land, mowing lawns and sending invoices. The last couple of years I have been in DaySpring’s productions of Only an Orphan Girl as Dick, Seussical as a Wickersham Brother and Much Ado About Nothing as Benedick. I’m looking forward to getting my driver’s license later this month, and exploring options for college and a career as I look to the future!

Kristy Moore as Maxine McCallister--Hi!  My name is Kristy Moore.  I'm excited to be a part of this production of If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise.  I'm married to Allen and a home-schooling mother of three: Isaac, 7 1/2; Rebekah, 4 1/2; and Rachel, 2.  Growing up in Springfield IL, I was involved in several productions at school and church in elementary and high school, including The Music Man, where I was a gymnast and dancer.  Since college at Evangel University, I have been in a lot of productions at church including Bethlehem Inn, A Christmas Carol, Putting the Christ Back in Easter, The Sounds of Christmas, and the direction of Sure Foundations, The Joy Story and The Tale of Three Trees..  In addition, I was involved in the DTC inaugural production of The Diary of Anne Frank in the role of Mr. Otto Frank.

At church I direct the kids choir, coordinate the nursery ministry and lead the Missionettes Prims club.  My hobbies include kids, music, kids, reading and kids.

Jenna Lafferty as Doreen Furst--I am 14 years old and will be a freshman next year.  I have been studying Musical Theatre and dance for the past 10 years.  This is my first role alongside my father. I will always be Daddy's girl.  My favorite roles have been Golde in Fiddler on the Roof and Lucy in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.  I dream of being a professional dancer and/or Broadway actress.  My desire is to teach Performing Arts.

I also enjoy being with friends and family, shopping and "IM"ing on the computer until the early morning hours.  I love to sing, even in my sleep.  I have been known to wake the family and myself with a song in the middle of the night.  I thank God for my talents and for many opportunities to use them.

Joel Brewer as Leo Jenkins--I am a home-schooled sophomore in high school and this will be my first performance with Destination Theater Company. I have played roles in several performances through Dayspring School of the Arts, including my most recent as a Prince in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Dayspring threw a twist on this play and set it in the groovy 60's, complete with a full rainbow tie-dye set. Other roles I have played include an English butler in the musical/comedy And Then There Was One and a Jewish father during the Holocaust in I Never Saw Another Butterfly.

Janet Brookman as Charlotte Dinsel--Hello!  My name is Janet Brookman.  I am thrilled to be joining Destination Theater Company this season.  For eight years, I have been involved in the local theater group Broadway on the Driveway in their annual musicals, including- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, and The Education of Hyman Kaplan.  I enjoy acting, singing, and dancing.  Other hobbies include: writing fiction and poetry, cooking, hanging out with my parents and five sisters, and being involved in the Christian band "Remnant".  I’d like to personally thank my Savior, Jesus Christ, for being so incredible and my family for always supporting me.

Tom Grady as Gerald Firestone--I am one of five partners at Trinity Wealth Advisors in Kirkwood.  Trinity is a family wealth management firm.  It’s marketing statement “Cultivating family wealth for generations” says it all.  I  speak on topics of generational wealth, family wealth in the year 2035 and beyond, and how to avoid Social Security’s upcoming generational warfare.

I have an MS and an MBA.  Aside from public speaking, where I  bring to life such historical characters as Cornelius Vanderbilt, I have had no stage experience.  What you are about to see is a first.

I read and write and have yet to find the TV remote.  I've written two books and numerous articles for national magazines.  I'm also a guest columnist for the St. Louis Post Dispatch Business Section.

I have been married to Charlotte since 1970, and together we have two kids: Brian and Rehanna Leigh, both gone and starting their own nests.

Virginia Conley as Elizabeth Claybourne--Hi!  I’m Virginia Conley a/k/a wife, mother, writer, former acrobat. First of all, I’d like to give a shout out to my husband and thank him for supporting me in my theatrical pursuits.  What am I about?  By day I am an executive assistant for a local healthcare organization.  By night, I study screen writing and am currently working on several screen plays and short stories.  My Thespian background includes The Girls’ Room (short film featured in the 2002 St. Louis Film Festival); stage plays From Generation to Generation and The Odd Couple (female version).  When not working and studying, I like to sing and spend time encouraging my son in his music production career.  I currently am a member of 2nd Coming, an a cappella gospel quintet.  This group consists of my biological sisters and brothers and me.  Ultimately, however, acting is my greatest passion outside of my family and church. I love it whether I get paid or not!  Oh yes, I can still turn a mean cartwheel.

Allen Moore as the Director--Hi!  I’m Allen Moore, the president and founder of Destination Theatre Company.  I'm excited to direct yet another play with DTC...my second so far...and to direct another play in general...I've started to lose count.  I got involved in theatre in high school (well, actually, in church, it was MUCH younger), playing Winthrop in The Music Man, Admiral von Schreiber in The Sound of Music, Mr. Kirby in You Can't Take it With You, roles in several one acts and playing viola for Mame and Fiddler on the Roof.  In college I continued with on stage roles as Mendel in Fiddler on the Roof, Andrew age 64 in Why Do We Laugh?, and Gonzalo in The Tempest as well as back stage roles in The Lion in Winter, Doll's House, A View From the Bridge, Charley's Aunt and several other plays, one acts and studio scenes.

Since graduating from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, I've done much more directorial and performance work through teaching at the middle school level and through church.  Some of those plays include This is a Test, Mame, The Fantasticks Rumors, Happy Daze, The Music Man Jr., Fools, The Living Last Supper, Who Will Call Him King of Kings, The Sounds of Christmas, and many, many more.

I'm married to Kristy (Maxine) and have three kids:  Isaac, 7 1/2; Rebekah, 4 1/2 and Rachel, 2.  At West County Assembly of God I am involved in the adult choir and helping Kristy with the kids choir.  My hobbies include reading (mostly plays), music and, of course, drama.
