One Act Casts

We have assembled a great group of people for our 2nd Annual One Act Play Competition.  Nearly all of the cast members are in multiple roles.  Here's all the information about them!  All bios reflect the most recent production participation with DTC.

John Christian in the 2009 Dinner theatre production of J.B.--John is retired. Previous careers (in reverse order): Database administrator, computer programmer, social worker, carpenter.  He leads a nursing home worship service every Sunday and preaches there twice a month.  Acting experience includes hgh school plays his junior and senior years (many years ago) and a couple plays at West County Assembly of God.  He sang a solo as Marcus in Who Will Call Him King of Kings at WCAG three different times.

With DTC, John has been in Tilly, the 2008 One Act Competition, A Christmas Carol and the 2009 One Act Competition.  He has a special fondness for Tilly because it was during that production that he met Janet, who became his wife in October, 2008.  He is using his carpentry skills to build some of the set pieces for J.B.

John has 9-year-old twin grandsons who live with his older son and daughter-in-law in the Seattle area.  His younger son works for Google but is soon moving to Colorado Springs to develop robot designs.  His marriage to Janet has brought him a step-daughter, a step-son and three more grandchildren; Isaac, Rebekah and Rachel.

Lauren Gathman as the Teacher and Martha Cratchit in the 2008 Dinner Theatre production of A Christmas Carol--Lauren is 13 years old.  She enjoys cats, riding her scooter and reading.  She has been in Broadway on the Driveway's productions of Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music and The Four Freedoms.  She has also appeared previously in DTC's productions of Charlotte's Web, Tilly and the 2008 One Act Competition.

Andrew Lafferty as the stage manager for the 2009 Dinner Theatre production of J.B.--Andrew is a 19-year-old from St. Charles County, Missouri.  He is currently a junior at Missouri Baptist University and plans to get his Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry followed by a Master's degree from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO.  Andrew has been called by God to the ministry as either a local pastor or an abroad missionary.  In his free time he helps our at his church, Grace Baptist Church in St. Charles, every chance he gets and spends time with his friends.  Theatre-wise, he has either been in, worked backstage on or directed over 30 plays and 15 musicals and has been involved in theater since he was 5.   Andrew has also worked backstage for our productions of If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise, Charlotte's Web-The Musical, Tilly and last summer's A Christmas Carol.  He also directed shows in both the 2007 and 2008 One Act Play Competition.

Brad Lafferty in the 2009 Dinner Theatre Production of J.B.--Brad is from Saint Louis, Missouri, and now lives in Saint Charles with his wife and two children.  He works for General Motors where he is a Chaplain for UAW Local 2250.  He is also a member of Grace Baptist Church where he sings in the choir and speaks in the Nursing Home Ministry and is currently seeking a Master's degree in Church Ministry from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO.

Brad would love to tell you that he has had a lifelong passion for the theatre (because that would make for riveting reading), but, truth be told, prior to his DTC experience, he's been in three plays and, at best, a half-dozen youth group skits in his whole life.  In fact, if his daughter wasn't studying theatre, he probably wouldn't go to too many plays, either.  He's not here to be a part of the sales department.  What he is here for is this...anytime anyone is willing to commit themselves to engaging our culture in the name of Christ, he's behind them.  He says, for too long we Christians have sat idly by while others have taken the arts away from their original purpose...to praise and glorify God.  He believes this world needs, more than ever, people willing to step out, in faith, and proclaim the goodness and majesty of God to a lost and dying world, and that the theatre is a very good place to start.  Our God is a creator...let us also be creative as we worship Him.  His DTC production experience consists of playing Doc  in If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise, directing The Conference in the 2007 One-Act Competition, playing the doctor in Samuel and Dinah also in the 2007 One-Act Competition, playing the doctor in our production of Charlotte's Web and directorial and (non-speaking) acting roles in the 2009 One Act Competition where his play The Challenge won best original play.  Brad also worked backstage for our productions of Tilly and A Christmas Carol.

Jenna Lafferty in the 2009 One Act Competition--Jenna, who won Best Actress honors in the 2009 One Act Competition, is a 15-year-old sophomore in high school this year, and is taking some classes at Missouri Baptist University.  She has been studying Musical Theatre and dance for over 10 years.  She has been involved with DTC for over three-and-a-half years now.  Her first show with DTC was If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise.  She has also choreographed Charlotte's Web-The Musical and Tilly, in which she was also the featured dance, with DTC so far.  Her favorite roles have been Doreen in ...Good Lord's Willing... with DTC, Lucy in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown with Dayspring School of the Arts, Chave in Fiddler on the Roof and the Cuban dancer in Guys and Dolls with Alton Little Theatre to name a few.  Her dream is to grow up and act and dance on Broadway and teach performing arts classes.  She loves being with her friends, family and Mike, shopping and spending time on the computer.  She loes singing and is now in Encounter in Alton, Illinois.  She thanks God for her talents and for many opportunities to use them.

Stacey Lafferty in the 2009 One Act Play Competition--Stacey participated in a few high school and college skits but has been involved in theater mostly as a "mom" helping out backstage, props, costumes and scenery. She has just recently been bitten by the acting bug. She played Anita in DTC's production of Tilly, "Janet"-the crazy lady with the rake, in Autumn Leaves for Destination’s 2007 One Act Play Competition (for which she won best actress) and several roles in the 2008 One Act Competition where she also won best actress honors. She worked behind the scenes at Alton Little Theater last summer where she learned a lot about what to do, and not to do in the theater world.

She is a graduate of UM-St. Louis, with a degree in Elementary Education. Her family lives in St. Charles where they attend Grace Baptist Church. She and her husband home-school their two wonderful children, Andrew, 17 and Jenna, 15. She also teaches enrichment classes to groups of home-school students. Much of her time is spent just being a mom, something she enjoys immeasurably.

The arts are one of the ways she sees God's creativity, and that is why she wants to be involved with this group of talented people and their pursuit to place God back where He belongs...in the middle of the theatre as well as all areas of life.

Audrey Lipsmire in the 2009 One Act Competition--Audrey is in her fourth DTC production having also appeared in Charlotte's Web the Musical, Winnie the Pooh and Tilly.  She's very excited to be with them again. She was also in a few school plays and have been an extra in two movies.  She is 12 years old and in the 7th grade in the Northwest R-1 school district.  In her free time, Audrey enjoys playing the drums, soccer and hanging out with her friends.

Ray Martin as the second Soldier, Reporter, Police Officer and Civil Defense Officer and Zophar in the 2009 Dinner Theatre Production of J.B.--Ray has been doing dinner theatre and other plays at his church for many years.  The last 10 years, he has also been doing community theatre, mainly in Crestwood.  He has been in over a dozen shows, many performing beside his son or daughter and occasionally his wife.  Each part has been great but some of his favorites were Reuben in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jerry in George M! and the mysterious man in Into the Woods.  He has enjoyed working with DTC because of the spiritual bond between them.  In real life he has his own actuarial consulting practice.  His hobbies include scuba diving and raising seahorses.  He gives thanks to the Lord for "I can do all things through Him."  He want to especially thank his wife, Leah, for putting up with the crazy rehearsal schedules.  Ray's DTC experience includes Mr. Bendix in Tilly, performed in the 2008 One Act Competition, and as Bob Cratchit in the 2008 Dinner Theatre production of A Christmas Carol..

Allen Moore as the director for the 2009 Dinner Theatre production of J.B.--Allen is the founder and president of Destination Theatre Company.  J.B. represents his 10 production for DTC in which he has had directorial duties.  Allen is a graduate of  Evangel University (class of 1999) with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Drama Education and of Lindenwood University (class of 2007) with a Master’s degree in Theatre Management.  Other, non-DTC credits include Production Assistant for Missouri Baptist University’s production of Oklahoma!, Lighting Assistant for the Tin Ceiling’s production of Rosencrantz and Guidenstern are Dead, and Dramaturg for Broadway on the Driveway’s premier production of The Four Freedoms.  Allen has also directed or co-directed productions, in a teaching capacity, for Riverview Gardens Central Middle School (Mame, The Fantasticks, Why Do We Laugh, This is a Test, and Neil Simon’s Rumors), Francis Howell School District’s Saeger Middle School (Happy Daze) and St. Louis Public School’s Carr Lane Middle School (The Music Man Jr., Four Parodies on a Christmas Carol, and Neil Simon’s Fools).  Allen currently works as the Tech Liaison for Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School.  Allen is married to Kristy and has three kids; Isaac, Rebekah and Rachel.  Allen's DTC directorial credits include The Diary of Anne Frank, If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise, the 2007 One Act Competition, Charlotte's Web-The Musical, Tilly, the 2008 One Act Competition and A Christmas Carol.
